Lumbini World School (LWS) celebrated National Paddy Day (15th Ashad) with huge participation of the students, which conveyed the message that farmers are the saviours and real heroes of mankind, and without their efforts it’s impossible to sustain in this world. So, their diligence and toil should be respected.

The students from Pre-school to Grade 9 participated in the paddy plantation programme organised by the school and instilled in the mind the value of agriculture. They also realised that there is a long process for crop harvest; so we should not waste food.

A session was allocated for the display of all traditional farming tools, such as plough, sickles, spade, traditional umbrella made of wide leaves, bamboo basket, grinding stones etc. which enabled the students to know how challenging it is for farmers to plant rice seedlings, grow and nurture the crop and finally harvest it. This process requires labour intensive contribution of farmers.

Students from grades 1 to 9 also participated in a range of cultural events like poem recitation, elocution, singing of the Ashar 15 song, art & drawing etc. Following this session, students went to the field to plant rice seedlings/ saplings and knew the process of rice harvest.

The students also had curd and beaten rice after the paddy plantation programme.
