Students from grades 5 and 8 at Lumbini World School recently embarked on an educational journey to the historical Jit Gadhi Fort as part of their curriculum. Located in Butwal, Nepal, Jit Gadhi Fort holds significant historical importance, being built by the Sen dynasty and playing a crucial role during the Anglo-Nepalese War (1814–1816).
During their visit, the students learned about the rich history of the fort and its significance in Nepalese history. Led by knowledgeable guides, they explored the architectural features of the fort and gained insights into the events that transpired within its walls centuries ago.
The trip provided students with a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to understand the importance of preserving historical sites like Jit Gadhi Fort. They also learned about the brave individuals who defended the fort during times of conflict, such as Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa, whose statue was unveiled near the fort in 2019.
Additionally, the students had the opportunity to visit a war museum inaugurated in 2021, which commemorates the Battle of Jit Gadhi and showcases artifacts and exhibits related to the historical events that took place at the fort.
Overall, the visit to Jit Gadhi Fort provided students with a deeper appreciation for history and its importance in shaping the world we live in today. It served as a valuable educational experience, broadening their knowledge and understanding of Nepal's rich cultural heritage.
