Lumbini World School (LWS) organised an excursion for the students from Grades one – three to connect mathematics, science, conduct science, social studies with real-world phenomena.

The preliminary visit was to Bhatbhateni Superstore, Butwal on Friday, 5th Falgun 2079 followed by a visit to Banbatika Park, Shankarnagar. The purpose of the visit was to introduce beyond-classroom activities which would make students easier for understanding the concept practised in the classroom. The students connected their mathematical learning while doing moderate shopping at Bhatbhateni, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and so on.

The secondary visit was to Banbatika, Shankarnagar where the students observed some animals in the zoo. Some of them were never seen by the students, which was a bit surprise for them. Subsequently, they participated in mathematical games for mathematical learning. While observing the park surroundings they met some visitors with whom they communicated and exchanged greetings, which was a part of their social studies and conduct science curriculums. The students’ excitements tailored since they were very close to nature and natural world. The visit was a great success.

We hope this educational tour gave a lasting impact on our students and added value to LWS philosophy, “Learning by Doing”.
